新年明けまして

おめでとうございます。 旧年中は大変ご愛顧いただき誠に有難うございました。本年も変わらぬご厚誼の程、お願い申し上げます。 お陰様をもちまして、昨年も多くのお客様にご支援をいただき、業績も順調に伸び、リフォーム売上実績が山口県第２位となることが出来ました。本当にありがとうございます。今年も昨年以上に精進し、お客様に喜んでいただき、幸せを提供出来る企業を目指して参りたいと思います。 |
青春
年初にあたり、私の好きな詩のひとつで、アメリカの実業家だったサミュエル・ウルマンの青春という詩を紹介させていただきます。この詩は、連合国総司令官だったダグラス・マッカーサーが座右の銘として執務室に掲げたことから日本で知られる様になり、松下幸之助さんも座右の銘とされていたものです。（英文・邦訳は下段にて）
私はこの詩を15年前に読んだ時、非常に感動しました。それ以来自分自身のエネルギーが低下した時や物事に失望した時など幾度となく勇気づけられ、その時々に新たな感動を与えてくれた詩です。
皆様方の一助になればと思い紹介させていただきました。
今年一年、皆様方におかれまして、良き一年となりますことを祈念いたしまして新年の挨拶とさせていただきます。 感謝。
YOUTH（※サミュエル・ウルマンの詩「青春」）
Youth is not a time of life-it is a state of mind; It is a temper of the will, a quality of imagination, a vigor of the emotions,a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over love of ease.
Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years; people grow old only by deserting their ideals.
Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.
Worry, doubt ,self-distrust, fear and despair-these are the long ,long years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.
Whether seventy or sixteen, there is in every beings' heart, the love of wonder, the sweet amazement at the stars and the starlike things and thoughts,
the undaunted challenge of events, the unfailling childlike appetite for what next, and the joy and the game of life.
You are young as your faith, as old as doubt ;
as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear,
as young as your hope, as old as your despair.
So long as your heart receives messages of beauty, cheer, courage, grandeur and power from the earth, from man and from the Infinite so long you are young.
When the wires are all down and all the central place of your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism,
then you are grown old indeed and may God have mercy on your soul.

青 春

青春とは
人生のある期間を言うのではなく
心の様相（ようそう）を言うのだ。
優れた創造力、
逞（たくま）しき意志、
炎ゆる情熱、
怯懦（きょうだ）を却（しりぞ）ける勇猛心、
安易を振り捨てる冒険心、
こう言う様相を青春と言うのだ。
年を重ねただけで人は老いない。
理想を失う時に初めて老いが来る。
歳月は皮膚のしわを増すが
情熱を失う時に精神はしぼむ。
苦悶や、狐疑（こぎ）や、不安、恐怖、失望、
こう言うものこそ
恰（あたか）も長年月の如く人を老いさせ、
精気ある魂をも
芥（あくた）に帰せしめてしまう。
年は七十であろうと十六であろうと、
その輝きにも似たる事物や
思想に対する欽仰、
事に処する剛毅な挑戦、
小児の如く求めて止まぬ探求心、
人生への歓喜と興味。
人は信念と共に若く
疑惑と共に老ゆる
人は自信と共に若く
恐怖と共に老ゆる
希望ある限り若く
失望と共に老い朽ちる
大地より、神より、人より、
美と喜悦、勇気と壮大、
そして偉力の霊感を受ける限り、
人の若さは失われない。
これらの霊感が絶え、
悲嘆の白雪が
人の心の奥までも蔽（おお）いつくし、
皮肉の厚氷（あつごおり）が
これを堅くとざすに至れば、
この時にこそ人は全く老いて、
神の憐れみを乞うる他はなくなる。
